Dial 1930 to report Cyber Crime says Jasdeep Singh, AIG Punjab All India Management Association’s Chandigarh chapter, Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organized a Panel Discussion on “White Collar Crime – Financial Frauds and support available”. The panel had Jasdeep Singh, PPS, AIG Punjab Police, Jogeshwar Pratap Singh, Founder Cross check Consultants and Harjit Singh, Regional Head Fraud Control Unit, Axis Bank and the discussion was moderated by Abhishek Gupta the Associate Principal/Director L&T Infotech who is also the General Secretary of CMA who set the context of cyber financial fraud as White Collar Crime unlike a usual crime by muffled face robbers jumping over walls and stealing money from the safe in darkness using torchlight. Jasdeep Singh, from his vast experience shared various modus operandi, adopted by the cyber thieves, he even touched upon ATM thefts, risks involved in Cryptocurrency and about phishing. Jogeshwar Pratap Singh, an ex-Banker, is giving consultancy services to the people for safe financial transaction and helping them to seek bank support, if they fall prey to financial fraud. He shared his views about the vulnerability of the consumer’s financial information. Yet another panellist Mr.Harjit Singh, stressed upon the role of the Ombudsman in resolution of financial loss due to cyber-attacks and shared dos and donts about financial transactions over the web. Jasdeep Singh shared the intensive efforts made by the state and Centre in the police systems towards nabbing cyber culprits and created awareness about the Cyber helpline no. 1930 to report any cyber-attack. Abhishek Gupta summarized the learnings from the session and took the queries from the audience. President of CMA, Gursimran Singh Oberoi, gave the vote of thanks and honored the panelists and also the newly appointed Patron, Prof. JPS Nindra and Advisor, Deepak Dhingra, who was also a former President of CMA. The event was held at Hyatt Regency Chandigarh was widely attended by close to 85 CMA life members. The association’s Executive Committee members present on the occasion included Vice President, Rajnish Mittal, Joint Secretary, Dr. Navjot Kaur, Jatinderpal Singh Sehdev, Sukhwinder Singh Uppal and Ashok Goyal.
